Shiv Stuti – Understanding the Divine Praise of Lord Shiva

Shiv Stuti – Understanding the Divine Praise of Lord Shiva

🌸 Introduction

Lord Shiva — the destroyer, protector, and ultimate yogi — is worshipped by millions for his deep silence, fierce power, and boundless love. This beautiful Shiv Stuti (prayer) is a poetic tribute to Mahadev in all his divine forms.

Let’s explore this hymn together — its simple meaning, its essence, and how chanting it can bring peace, strength, and connection with the divine.

🕉️ Shiv Stuti – The Prayer to Lord Shiva

Ashutosh Shashank Shekhar,
Chandra Mauli Chidambara,
Koti Koti Pranam Shambhu,
Koti Naman Digambara ॥

This verse bows to Shiva — the one who is easily pleased (Ashutosh), who wears the moon on his head (Shashank Shekhar), and who is the formless cosmic energy (Chidambara). We offer countless salutations to Shambhu and Digambara (the one who wears the sky).

Nirvikar Omkar Avinashi,
Tumhi Devadhi Dev,
Jagat Sarjak Pralay Karta,
Shivam Satyam Sundara ॥

Shiva is beyond change (Nirvikar) and never-ending (Avinashi). He is the sound of Om, the source of creation and destruction, and the God of all gods. He represents truth, beauty, and goodness.

Nirankar Swaroop Kaleshwar,
Maha Yogeeshwar,
Dayanidhi Danishwar Jay,
Jatadhar Abhayankara ॥

Shiva is formless (Nirankar), the lord of time (Kaleshwar), and the supreme yogi. He is kind (Dayanidhi), wise (Danishwar), and fearless (Abhayankara), with matted hair (Jatadhar).

Shool Pani Trishul Dhari,
Augadi Baghambari,
Jay Mahesh Trilochanay,
Vishwanath Vishambhara ॥

He carries a trident (Trishul) and protects the world from evil. He is Trilochana (three-eyed), Mahesh (the great God), and Vishwanath — the lord of the universe.

Nath Nageshwar Haro Har,
Paap Saap Abhishaap Tam,
Mahadev Mahan Bhole,
Sada Shiv Shiv Sankara ॥

Shiva, the Nageshwar (lord of serpents), removes all sins, curses, and darkness. He is the great Mahadev, simple and pure as Bhole Nath, and always benevolent as Sankara.

Jagat Pati Anurakati Bhakti,
Sadaiv Tere Charan Ho,
Kshama Ho Aparadh Sab,
Jay Jayati Jagadishwara ॥

O Lord of the Universe (Jagat Pati), may we always stay devoted at your feet. Please forgive our mistakes and bless us with your grace. Victory to you, Jagadishwara!

Janam Jeevan Jagat Ka,
Santaap Taap Mite Sabhi,
Om Namah Shivaay Man,
**Japta Rahe Panchakshara ॥

You are the source of life. You remove all suffering. May our mind always chant your name — Om Namah Shivaya — the powerful five-letter (Panchakshara) mantra.

Ashutosh Shashank Shekhar,

Chandra Mauli Chidambara,
Koti Koti Pranaam Shambhoo,
Koti Naman Digambara ॥
Koti Naman Digambara..
Koti Naman Digambara..
Koti Naman Digambara..

The stuti ends with devotion, offering repeated bows to Lord Shiva — the eternal, formless, and ever-kind divine.
